Aviot architects is an architectural practise based in Bangalore, India founded by Oommen Thomas Aviot in 2017. The studio’s body of work spans a varied range of scales and typologies, from architecture and interior design of private houses, to retail and hospitality spaces.
Having his roots in Kerala, Oommen Thomas brings a distinctive, unpretentious, and sensitive ethos to his practise. Learning from the traditional typology of Kerala houses, the practise values craftsmanship and timelessness of these traditional spaces, while thriving to be relevant to current times in designing. The design process is deeply rooted in context and constantly engages with climatic responses, local resources, and building spaces that are contextually appropriate. The studio believes in providing sustainable design solutions, trying to maintain the delicate balance between man and environment in today’s constantly changing world. While trying to keep in harmony with the ecology the studio operates with simplicity and believes in doing more with less.
